These are the questions people actually ask before buying or starting Gunman Contracts - Stand Alone — VR support, co-op, content volume, price and specs.

Every answer below is drawn from the game's own Steam store page and the Steam app-details data, both captured on 2026-09-15. Where the answer is not published anywhere yet, the answer says so instead of guessing. Anything still open is listed publicly on our wiki index.

Why answers here are short. A wiki is only useful if you can trust it. We would rather write "not published" than fill a paragraph with a plausible-sounding number. If the developer publishes more detail, these answers change and the revision date at the top of this page changes with them.

All questions

Is Gunman Contracts - Stand Alone VR only?

No. The game was created from the ground up for VR and non-VR, and Steam lists separate minimum specs for non-VR play, so a VR headset is not required.

Can I play it without a VR headset?

Yes. The published non-VR minimum is 64-bit Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-7500 or better, 12 GB RAM, a GTX 1070 or better and 20 GB of storage.

Which VR headsets are supported?

Not fully published. Steam lists VR Supported, OpenXR (standing or sitting) and Tracked Controller Support, but no per-headset compatibility list has been published, so we cannot confirm individual headsets yet.

What are the system requirements?

Non-VR minimum: i5-7500, 12 GB RAM, GTX 1070, 20 GB storage, 64-bit Windows 10. VR recommended: i7-12700, 16 GB RAM, RTX 3060, 20 GB storage. The developer notes that system testing is still in progress and that the listed minimum specs are for non-VR.

Is there co-op or multiplayer?

No. Steam lists the game as Single-player only, and no multiplayer or co-op category is attached to it.

How many weapons are there?

18 weapons to unlock on the gunwall, each with per-weapon attachments. A compound bow and knives are listed separately from the 18. Individual weapon names and stats have not been published.

Does Gunman Contracts have stealth?

Yes. The developer confirms silencers, knives and grappling or punching as takedown options, and that you can sneak up behind an enemy and cover their mouth. Story missions do not always allow stealth, so it is an option rather than a mode you can commit to everywhere.

Can you do silent takedowns?

Yes. The developer has published material titled Silent Takedowns, and describes grappling and punching among your options. Two rules matter: bodies blow your cover just like living enemies do, and if you alert a few enemies but take them out before anyone else notices, you can keep sneaking.

How many story missions ship at launch?

Three connected story contracts at Early Access launch, with three additional story missions planned as free future updates — six in total.

How long will the game be in Early Access?

No fixed date has been given. The developer's stated plan is to keep releasing more content over the coming couple of years on the way to version 1.0, and says there is no exact timeline at this stage.

How long does the game take to finish?

Not published. Neither the developer nor the store page states a completion time, so any hours figure you see quoted elsewhere is currently an estimate rather than confirmed data.

Are there Steam achievements?

Yes — 27 of them. Steam additionally lists Cloud saves, Stats, Leaderboards and Family Sharing for the game.

How do the leaderboards work?

Every contract, challenge and skill game has Steam leaderboards, and they are divided between VR and non-VR players, so you compete only against players on the same setup.

Is there a low-violence mode?

Yes. An optional low-violence mode disables nearly all blood and splatter effects while keeping the action intact. Unlockable cheats are also part of the launch content.

How much does it cost, and will the price go up?

$24.99 during Early Access. The developer states the price is set to increase as more contracts and content are added up to version 1.0, so buying during Early Access is cheaper.

What languages are supported?

English and German only, and both include full audio support according to the Steam store page.

Does it run on Steam Deck, Mac or Linux?

Steam Deck yes, Mac and Linux no. The game carries Valve's Steam Deck Verified rating, the higher of Valve's two compatibility ratings, and the developer states that PC and Steam Deck are both fully supported. There is no native Mac or Linux build — the store page lists Windows as the only native platform. The published non-VR GPU minimum is a GTX 1070.

Is it related to the Half-Life: Alyx mods?

Same creator, different game. ANB_Seth made the Half-Life: Alyx mods Gunman Contracts - Chapter 1 and Chapter 2; Stand Alone is a completely new, from-the-ground-up single-player game, not a Half-Life mod.

Can I play my own music in game?

Yes. A custom music feature lets you play your own MP3 files in-game through the gunman's smartphone.
